Lackawaxen up for River of The Year

It has been an amazing year for the Lackawaxen River and all those who care for it! Now, the river which runs through Wayne & Pike counties is running for 2024 River of the Year!

Lackawaxen River Trails, a fund with the Foundation, is thrilled to announce that the Lackawaxen River has been chosen as one of three rivers in the Commonwealth up for selection as River of The Year. This opportunity is very special as it recognizes the wonderful community-focused work that has been done to increase access to the river over the past few years.

“This annual competition is a great way to highlight Pennsylvania’s special waterways and the benefits they bring for conservation, recreation, economic development, and so much more. We look forward to tallying up votes and announcing the 2024 River of the Year in the coming months.”
