PA 5% Giving Pledge

The Wayne County Community Foundation is excited to support and endorse the PA Giving Pledge. The PA Giving Pledge encourages Pennsylvanians commit at least 5% of their wealth to support our nonprofit sector.

A Transfer of Wealth Study prepared by The Center for Rural Pennsylvania estimates $418 billion will be transferred from one generation to the next in the next ten years. If successful, The PA Giving Pledge will generate nearly $21 billion for local nonprofits in the next decade. In Wayne County, $48.66 million dollars over the next 50 years could potentially be captured to support our local community if Wayne County residents each committed 5% of their estate to charitable giving.

Pennsylvania is served by a strong network of community foundations.

Community Foundations, like the Wayne County Community Foundation, are supported by many separate donors interested in creating permanent endowments to benefit a wide array of charitable organizations and causes.

We also play important community leadership roles in the regions they serve. Community foundations can work with donors, and their professional advisors, to encourage and increase philanthropic giving.

Take the Pledge

Leave 5% to Pennsylvania.

All Pennsylvanians are encouraged to take the pledge and leave at least 5% of their estates to perpetually benefit charitable causes in the communities they call home. These estate planning commitments can be made after discussions with your personal professional advisors, the community foundation serving your region or with other nonprofit organizations you care about.

There is no requirement that your pledge be made public and no documentation is required. We do know, however, that public commitments can encourage others to give.
