WCCF Names New Board Member

The Wayne County Community Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of new Board Member, Kim Modrovsky. Kim lives with her husband, Michael and children, Emma and Peter on Pine Mill Road in northern Wayne County. She is the co-owner with her brothers of Diehl Trucking Company in Damascus. A graduate of Honesdale High School and Lackawanna College, she is a member and Trustee of the Damascus Manor Methodist Church. She actively supports her children’s sporting teams and is a member of the Friends of Honesdale Girl’s Basketball and Baseball programs.

WCCF Supports Project LINUS

Wayne County Community Foundation Supports Project LINUS With 300 Chapters Nationwide, Project LINUS provides love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need. They do this with gitfs of new handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer "Blanketeers." The monies from the grant will be used to purchase materials to make the blankets.

WCCF Kicks Off 17th Year for Annual Dictionary Project

The Wayne County Community Foundation is soliciting donations for its 17th Annual Dictionary Project. This program gives dictionaries to 3rd Graders in the following Wayne County schools: Lakeside, Damascus, Preston, Evergreen, RD Wilson, Canaan Christian. Additionally, library books for third graders at given to the Forest City Elementary School. Donors have their names or names of loved ones placed on bookplates for each book. Donations may mailed to the Wayne County Community Foundation, 214 Ninth St. Honesdale, PA 18431

At its recent Scholarship Program on June 18th, the Wayne County Community Foundation present five, $1,000 scholarships to deserving Wayne County resident seniors. These scholarships are sponsored by the Foundation itself, recognizing students who have demonstrated high academic achievements and service to their school and community.

Foundation Awards Leon Scudder Memorial Scholarships

At its June 18, 2019, Scholarship Program, the Wayne County Community Foundation presented ten, $2000 Leon Scudder Scholarships to deserving Wayne County resident graduates. This is the thirteenth year that Scudder Memorial scholarships were presented. The Scholarship Fund was created in 2004 in a bequest by the late, Leon Scudder.

Colin Rickard Receives Luke Rickard Memorial Scholarship

The Wayne County Community Foundation and the Luke Rickard Family are please to announce that Colin Rickard, a graduate of Honesdale High School, is thisyear's Scholarship winner. This scholarship sponsored by Luke's family, is presented in memory of Luke Rickard who died tragically in 1994. The $1000 scholarship is presented annually to a senior member of the Honesdale High School Boys Basketball Team. The recipient embodies the ideals of sportsmanship, teamwork and perseverance in the pursuit of excellence.
