The Wayne County Community Foundation announces the appointment of Ryanne Jennings as the new Executive Director of the Wayne County Community Foundation, effective October 1, 2019. She will replace Paul Edwards who served as the Executive Director since August 2006.
The estate of the late John E. Marshall has established a Donor Advised Fund at the Wayne County Community Foundation. Additionally, Mrs. Marjorie L. Marshall has donated substantially on her own to expand the projects that the Fund will support. The fund’s name is, “The John E. and Marjorie L. Marshall Fund.”
Recently, Third Graders at the Canaan Christian Academy were presented with the "Scholastic Children's Dictionary." The 16th annual presentation of the project is sponsored by the Wayne County Community Foundation. To date, over 4,000 dictionaries have been presented to third graders throughout Wayne County. The Foundation wishes to expresses its appreciation for the many faithful donors who've made this such a successful project.
On Thursday, January 17, the Wayne County Community Foundation presented a dictionary to each of the third graders enrolled in the Evergreen Elementary School.
Once again, the Wayne County Community Foundation in cooperation with the PA Department of Economic and Community Development will award grants to area school districts.
On November 1, 2018 Donna Decker received the Wayne County Community Foundation’s 2018 Ben Franklin Community Service Award.
For the past sixteen years, the Wayne County Community Foundation has given a dictionary to 3rd Graders in the County. Last year, we began providing dictionaries to the 3rd Graders in the Forest City Regional Elementary School. To date, we’ve given out 4,750 dictionaries and with this year’s program we will go over the “5000 mark.”
The Wayne County Community Foundation salutes the "BK Invitational Golf Classic" celebrating its 19th year. Held on September 30, and October 1 at Woodloch the tournament founded by Bob Kiesendahl raises money to support cancer research at the Fred Hutchinson Institute and Penn State. To date Bob, and his team have raised $1.2 million dollars.
The Wayne County Community Foundation Board of Directions has selected Donna Decker with its highest recognition, the 2018, “Ben Franklin Award for Community Service.” Donna Decker.jpgThe award commemorating one of Nation’s “Foundation Fathers… Benjamin Franklin” is accompanied by a grant of $1000 from the Foundation’s Ben Franklin Fund. This gift will be given to a charity of Mrs. Decker’s choosing. The selection recognizes Donna’s years of service to her community and her profession.
On Friday, August 3rd, the Wayne County Community Foundation held its lst “Day of Giving.” The event was held from 2-7 pm at the Cooperage in Honesdale and “showcased” eleven non-profit agencies servicing the citizens of Wayne County. The following organizations participated: Wayne County YMCA; Wayne County Historical Society; Wayne County Arts Alliance; Wayne County Heroin Prevention Task Force; The Cooperage Project; SEEDS of Wayne County; Dessin Animal Shelter; Habitat for Humanity; Wayne County Library Alliance; Victims Intervention and Lacawac Sanctuary.
