Wayne County Launches Supplemental Food Assistance Program

The Wayne County Community Foundation Board of Directors has selected Paul and Sandy Meagher for its highest recognition, the 2019, “Ben Franklin Award for Community Service.”

The Wayne County Community Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of new Board Member, Kim Modrovsky. Kim lives with her husband, Michael and children, Emma and Peter on Pine Mill Road in northern Wayne County. She is the co-owner with her brothers of Diehl Trucking Company in Damascus. A graduate of Honesdale High School and Lackawanna College, she is a member and Trustee of the Damascus Manor Methodist Church. She actively supports her children’s sporting teams and is a member of the Friends of Honesdale Girl’s Basketball and Baseball programs.
The Wayne County Community Foundation is soliciting donations for its 17th Annual Dictionary Project. This program gives dictionaries to 3rd Graders in the following Wayne County schools: Lakeside, Damascus, Preston, Evergreen, RD Wilson, Canaan Christian. Additionally, library books for third graders at given to the Forest City Elementary School. Donors have their names or names of loved ones placed on bookplates for each book. The Wayne County Community Foundation announces the appointment of Ryanne Jennings as the new Executive Director of the Wayne County Community Foundation, effective October 1, 2019. She will replace Paul Edwards who served as the Executive Director since August 2006.
The estate of the late John E. Marshall has established a Donor Advised Fund at the Wayne County Community Foundation. Additionally, Mrs. Marjorie L. Marshall has donated substantially on her own to expand the projects that the Fund will support. The fund’s name is, “The John E. and Marjorie L. Marshall Fund.”
Recently, Third Graders at the Canaan Christian Academy were presented with the "Scholastic Children's Dictionary." The 16th annual presentation of the project is sponsored by the Wayne County Community Foundation. To date, over 4,000 dictionaries have been presented to third graders throughout Wayne County. The Foundation wishes to expresses its appreciation for the many faithful donors who've made this such a successful project.
